Net Visionary Awards 2009 - Nice Surprise

Just looking through Roseanne Smiths newsletter that she has sent through this morning for the Irish Internet Association. I'm surprised to see we're behind two of the shortlisted people for this years Net Visionary Awards. Fluid Rock nominated Eoghan O'Mara Walsh from Heritage Island for the Online Tourism Award. He's brought the service he offers people up to the expected standards that tourists looking to book their holiday activities in advance find elswehere in the world. Not surprisingly, we love the site, and I see dotMobi will be speaking at the IIA Congress, well Eoghan is working with us to deliver the dotMobi version of www.heritageisland.com at the moment, and I'm sure Trey Harvin will be telling attendees why Eoghans on the right track here.

The surprise was an older project of ours, MotorTax.ie which has been shortlisted for an e-Government Award. I've just checked the records, it went live in 2003. That's six years the simple interface has served the motoring public in Ireland, helping them avoid the queue to hand over their hard earned cash. We're still proud of our universal design on this project, although recent tenders we've submitted didn't want any examples of design done before 2005. We note that our neighbour in The Digital Hub, Sean in Xwerx is up for the award also. Greenwave, another project we pitched for, but alas Sean and the team secured, is up for an award. I'll have to vote for this, despite our connection to Motor Tax. The first site was great, and I was on the new site earlier in the week, we LOVE it. Good Luck Sean.
